The Dales have lived in their home for 10 years. It is a 1940's era two story home with 1,700 main floor square feet. The house has a full basement under a portion of it and also has a room off of the basement that was partially dug out where the furnace, water heater and pressure tank are located. The remaining portion that was not dug out was a 36 x 36 foot dirt crawl space.
When they were in the basement, the Dales had always noticed musty smells. They also noticed that some of their floors were sagging a little on the main level and the doors upstairs were binding and rubbing on the floor. In addition, they were concerned with the cold floors above the crawlspace. The Dales also mentioned that when they had to work in the crawlspace to install wiring or plumbing they would feel claustrophobic. The Dales did not want their furnace sucking in the dirt and dust into it and blowing it around upstairs.
